Your Outfit: Keep It Simple, Sharp, and Stylish
Your clothing should highlight your personality while keeping the focus on your face. Here’s how to nail your look:
Do's:
Stick to Solids and Classics:
Opt for solid colors that complement your skin tone—think jewel tones, earth tones, or neutrals.
Classic pieces like well-fitted blazers, shirts, or blouses work best. Layering subtly (like a jacket over a blouse) adds depth and polish.
Accessorize Sparingly:
Keep it simple—think a watch, a minimalist necklace, or understated earrings.
If it doesn’t add to the look, leave it out.
Dress for Success:
Choose outfits that reflect your profession or personality.
Ensure everything fits well, is clean, and pressed.
Don’ts:
Avoid busy patterns, logos, or bold stripes—they distract from your face.
Say no to hats, sunglasses, or gimmicky accessories (save those for your music video shoot).
Pro Tip: Bring a lint roller for last-minute touch-ups and an undershirt or camisole for easy changes.
Hair & Makeup: Natural, Polished, Perfect
The goal is to look like the best version of yourself—authentic yet polished.
Hair:
Make sure your hair is clean and styled.
Tame flyaways with a small brush, comb, or a spritz of hairspray.
If you need a haircut, schedule it a few days before the shoot for a fresh yet settled look.
Makeup:
Less is more—aim for a natural, everyday look.
Avoid shimmer, glitter, or SPF in makeup, as these can reflect studio lights.
Bring essentials for touch-ups: lipstick, powder, and blotting papers to reduce shine.
Glasses or Contacts?
If you wear glasses, bring them! They’re part of who you are. Ensure they’re clean and glare-free. Bring contacts as a backup in case we need to experiment with different looks.
Before the Session: Preparation is Key
Set yourself up for success by taking care of the essentials:
Rest and Hydrate: A good night’s sleep and plenty of water make for radiant skin and bright eyes.
Skincare: Keep it simple—no drastic treatments or new products right before the session.
Fresh Breath: Brush and floss before you arrive.
Clothing Options: Bring 2–3 outfit choices that reflect your style and profession. Share ideas with me ahead of time so we’re aligned on the look you want.
During the Session: Relax and Have Fun
This is your time to shine! Here’s how to make the most of it:
Trust the Process: I’ll guide you through poses and expressions, so there’s no pressure on you.
Stay Loose: The best shots happen when you’re relaxed and enjoying the moment. I’ll keep things light with (terrible) jokes to help you feel at ease.
Take Breaks: Need a breather? No problem. We’ll pace the session to keep you comfortable.
After the Session: Review and Refine
Once we’re done, we’ll sit down and go through your shots together:
Review: Pick the photos that capture you best.
Final Touches: I’ll make subtle retouches to ensure your headshots are professional and polished without losing their authenticity.
Delivery: Your headshots will be ready to wow casting directors, clients, or anyone who sees them.
The Bottom Line: Let’s Create Magic
